2010 MSA CHAMPIONSHIP. SLOPE 4 − SPEED

The weather conditions for the Speed competition started very promisingly, wind speed in the order of 12mph from the West with some thermal activity to help the models along.

Three rounds were flown with 30secs to gain height and then fly as quickly as you can for 10 legs. The speeds varied depending upon the extent of any thermal activity encountered.

As the competition progressed the wind speed decreased and by the last round Steve Pearse clocked the slowest speed of the day at 105 secs. (the quickest being 38secs) with the model finishing up way below him almost in West Malvern. Steve was considering a landing out but contacted a weak thermal and slowly but surely the model gained height and a slope side landing was achieved.

Well done Steve.
