2010 MSA CHAMPIONSHIP. SLOPE 3 − LOOPS

Weather conditions for the competition on Metcheck said WNW at about 7-8mph with possible showers. On the day the conditions were W to WSW at about 1-5mph with cloud and at times bright sunshine.

The competition was loops and it was decided that the total flight time would be 3 minutes from launch with as many loops completed within the time given, but this also included a landing. Failure to land within the 3min time period allowed resulted in half of the total loops being discarded, despite much grumbling by the competitors over this rule nobody over flew the total time. 4 rounds to be flown with 1 to be discarded. The first 2 rounds of 4 was dependant upon thermal lift. Failure to contact a thermal resulted in a extremely low score, the lowest score of the day was zero loops.

Rounds 3 and 4 the wind speed increased and this helped everybody complete a minimum of 18 loops within the time period. The maximum number of loops recorded including a landing was 47.
